NZ Nuclear Free stance

NZ Nuclear Free stance

In January 1985 the American ship USS Buchanan came to NZ the American government refused to tell whether or not there were nuclear weapons on board. The David Lange’s Labour government did not let it land. I think they should have let it land either way as if it had nuclear weapons on board they could have showed us how to make them and helped us prepare for a nuclear war which we could survive in, and if they did not have nuclear weapons on board we could stay as a nuclear-free country, (obviously they will not show us now with their idiot president.)

The reason David Lange did not want possible nuclear weapons landing is because just before the NZ ship The Rainbow Warrior had been blown by France in an argument about nuclear weapons. The reason it was The Rainbow Warrior that was blown up was because that was our protest ship that would be sailed around Atolls to stop the French testing their nuclear bombs on them. This is another unnecessary argument where we could have learned how to manufacture nuclear bombs. For more information on The Rainbow Warrior check out my earlier post.

Thank you for reading my opinion on the NZ Nuclear Free stance written from a different perspective I do not actually believe this.

  1. hi Jack, a good first attempt, but this needs a bit more work, mate. Please check your grammar and your facts. The NZ government refused entry to the USS Buchanan in Feb 1985, and the Rainbow Warrior was sunk in July 1985. Also note that the USA has a president, not a prime minister. Thanks, Mum
