Letter to friend from point of view of Maori settlers. Summer learning journey

Hi Ari, we have just reached our first rest point and I'm scared. There are lots of dark caves and shadowy trees that look like someone is going to jump out from behind them. Everyone says the island isn't populated but I'm not so sure. I'm also nervous that there's going to be no trees in NZ, I mean I don't even know anything about NZ. Thanks for reading this I will write more letters soon.

  1. Hi there Jack,

This is a great letter! I'm sure your friend would be glad to hear from you. I like what you said about the shadowy trees, I would be nervous of people jumping out from behind them as well.
Perhaps you could tell your friend something about how you got to New Zealand. Were you sailing and did you get sea sick?

I look forward to reading more of your blog.
    Cheers,
    Ruby.

  2. Hi Jack,

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey programme. My name is Ellee and I will be blogging with you this summer.

Great start with your letter to Ari, I like how you set the scene on the island really well, great describing!
Why are you nervous about having no trees in New Zealand?

On another note: I really like you giant picture of Steph Curry on the side of your blog! Is he your favourite player or is Golden State your favourite team?

You're off to a great start with your blogging Jack, hope to read more posts from you soon!

    Ellee :)
