Summer Learning Journey Waka Ama

Waka Ama is a boat race with traditional Maori waka instead of boats. I would like to be in a Waka Ama race one day because I think it would be a great experience and lots of fun. Although it would be fun I think it might be very hard work. Would you like to be in a Waka Ama race? Watch this Video and then comment down below.

    hi Jack, yes, the Waka Ama race looks like fun. I think it would be hard work also as it's not too different from dragon boating which I have done in the past.

    It would be lots of hard work to be in a Waka Ama race! But it's good to read that you think it would be fun too and would like to be in one maybe. What sorts of things would you have to practice to prepare for a Waka Ama race?

    I don't think I would like to be in a race because I'm not very good at swimming and would be afraid of falling out of the Waka!
